Vegas Three Card Rummy at Bodog Casino

Bodog, the online gambling, music and entertainment powerhouse, is taking a stab at rummy games. Bodog has always maintained an all-inclusive entertainment philosophy, offering a one-stop destination for all that is F-U-N under the sun. Bodoglife.com includes an online sportsbook and racebook, an online poker room and online casino, along with a music label (Bodog Music). Their across-the-board approach has led the casino to include a rummy variation that will put your rummy skills to the test.

Bodog has chosen to spice up its casino repertoire with the ‘Vegas Three Card Rummy’ - a rummy variation that combines elements of black-jack, poker and, of course, rummy. Similar to black-jack, it is played against a dealer who can ‘bust’ on his end of the bet. Like poker, the game involves betting rounds, where players can bet, raise, or fold. The card value, card runs, card combinations and subsequently the main strategy is closer to rummy, though skilled players from all three games will enjoy this refreshing combination.

Vegas Three Card Rummy – Rules

A singe 52-card deck is used. Both the player and the dealer are dealt 3 cards – player face up, dealer face down. The goal is to score fewer points than the dealer.

The cards are ranked as follows:

2 through 10 - face value

Jack, Queen, King - 10 points

Aces - 1 point

Any Pair - 0 points

Any Triple - 0 points

Two-card Suited Run - 0 points

Three-card Suited Run - 0 points

(Note - Ace, King is not a suited run)

Game flow

  • The player presses the ‘deal’ button and an ante (the basic bet value) is placed.
  • The player and dealer are each dealt three cards. The player can only see his own three cards.
  • At this point the player must choose between two possible actions – fold or raise. There is NO check option – a player must raise in order to see the dealer’s cards.
  • A player may decide to fold and forfeit the ante bet, in which case the game ends and a new round starts.
  • The player may decide to raise if he feels he (or she) has a good chance to beat the dealer, or if they qualify for the bonus bet – see below. The raise is equal to the ante amount.
  • In case the cards weren’t folded, the dealer’s cards are revealed.
  • The dealer must have 20 points or less for his bet to qualify. If the dealer does not qualify, the player wins even money on the ante bet, and the raise is returned.
  • If the dealer qualifies by having 20 points or less, and his 3-card total point value is higher than the player’s, the player wins the bet! In this case, the player also doubles up his ante AND ALSO wins the raise bet, with payouts as follows:
Winner Score Payouts
Player 0 4:1
Player 1-5 2:1
Player 6-19 1:1
Player/Dealer Tie Any Push

Vegas Three Card Rummy - The Bodog Bonus Bet

There is also a bonus bet that makes this rummy variation a great choice in terms of payouts. A player wins the bonus bet regardless of the dealer’s hand, as long as he didn’t fold the bet. At Bodog, any 3-cards with a total score of 12 points or less earn the player a bonus, which is paid out as follows:

A-2-3 Suited Run 100:1
0 25:1
1-6 2:1
7-10 1:1
11-12 4:1
